Valdosta Technical College CIS, Accounting, Marketing and Business Office Technology students from the Phi Beta Lambda organization competed in a state conference April 10th -13th. Phi Beta Lambda is a student organization that promotes business and leadership skills.
In today's highly competitive business environment it takes more than just a degree to succeed. It requires business savvy, leadership skills, and technical knowledge. Employers are looking for students with cutting edge skills and PBL gives members a chance to create those skills. By taking advantage of the many programs offered by Phi Beta Lambda, students are able to acquire skills that will set them apart from other graduates. They will be better prepared for their career, graduate school and life!
The Valdosta Technical College students brought home six 1st place awards in addition to several other awards. Below is list of the students who participated: Carissa Worley, 1st place in Desktop Publishing, and 3rd place in Microeconomics; Linda Gelatt, 1st place in Desktop Publishing and 5th place in Microeconomics; Steven Gottlieb 1st place awards in Networking Concepts and Computer Concepts; Tevyah Young, 1st place in Hospitality Management and 3rd place in Job Interview; Jeremy Downing, 4th place in Hospitality Management; Heather Suffield, 4th place in Hospitality Management; Julie Scott, 2nd place Hospitality Management; Robert Batten, 1st place in Macroeconomics and 2nd place in Microeconomics. Karen McCulloch, Justin Leach and Pierre Evans also participated in events at the conference.
