Business Programs

Business programs at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College offer several categories of educational opportunities to help you get started in a career in business or computer information systems.

Accounting: The accounting program at WGTC is a four to six quarter program that focuses on the skills necessary for a career in accounting. These skills specifically focus on preparation of financial statements, recording business transactions, calculating adjustments, learning how to prepare payroll tax returns, basic income tax returns and computerized accounting. The full program is offered on the Valdosta campus. We also offer short-term technical certificates of credit on the Ben Hill-Irwin, Coffee, and Valdosta campuses. Many courses are also available through our online learning management system, Angel.

Banking and Finance: WGTC offers a degree and diploma in Banking and Finance. This four to six quarter program provides a curriculum that will give you the financial management tools necessary to succeed in today’s banking and financial institutions. Areas of focus include ethics, e-business, personal finance, research methods and banking law. This program, as well as a short-term Banking and Finance Fundamentals Technical Certificate of Credit are offered on the Valdosta campus.

Business Administrative Technology: This four to six quarter program focuses on information technology applications and the latest in high-tech office administration. In addition to word processing, database, spreadsheets, presentations, and desktop publishing courses, students have the option of enrolling in courses that prepare them to work in and manage a medical office. Opportunities to attain national industry certification are provided within the program. WGTC also offers several short-term technical certificates of credit in the business administrative technology field. The Business Administrative Technology degree and diploma programs are offered at the Ben Hill-Irwin, Coffee, Cook, and Valdosta campuses. Most classes are available online as well.

Marketing: In the marketing program at WGTC, students learn how marketing influences parts of an organization. A major emphasis is placed on the study of the best practices in helping businesses connect with consumers. Offered as both a degree and diploma, there are also short-term technical certificates of credit available in Customer Service and Small Business Ownership. The marketing program at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is approximately four to five quarters in length and is offered on the Valdosta campus with several courses available online.

Management and Supervisory Development: This four to six quarter degree and diploma program is offered on both the Coffee and Valdosta campuses. Students are empowered with the skills necessary to enter the workforce in a management or supervisory position in a broad variety of businesses and industries, both public and private. A large emphasis is placed on human resources, issues, skills and technique. There is also a short-term technical certificate in Human Resource Management available within the Management and Supervisory Development program.
